Reducing waste in the village
Aldbury is already a busy hub of recyclers, food sharers, pond diggers, and EV enthusiasts. Check out some of our local projects and facilities aimed at helping people reduce, repair, reuse, recycle, upcycle and restore.
If you would like support to launch a project which will reduce waste, get in touch with the Waste Reduction team at:

Aldbury's Sharing Table
We like to share! This table is set up at the entrance to the allotments. Donations are welcome but not required if you are struggling with the cost of living crisis. The important thing is that spare produce gets eaten and enjoyed.
To donate for produce taken please use one of the QR codes rather than leaving cash. You just need to scan it with your phone camera and it'll take you directly to either the JustGiving page linked to Friends of Aldbury School or the charity, Médecins Sans Frontières. If you want to leave cash for FOAS, please just give direct at the school.
To donate produce, clean plant pots or plants (in clean compost, not garden soil which may harbour unwanted weeds or pests) please just leave on the table - and remove any spoiled food, waste or plastic you see if possible.
Declutter with Olio
Olio is a local food and equipment sharing app which we recommend to use to donate excess food or other household items you don't need any more.
Hop on the app, upload a picture and set up a pickup location - save something from landfill and make your neighbour's day.
Are you a local business owner with left-over food? We regularly get shipments of excess food from Tesco and other local businesses which we advertise on Olio and our local Facebook group, Everything Aldbury. Get in touch at aldburywastereduction@gmail.com to talk to the team about food redistribution options.
Local Repair Cafés
A broken zip? A faulty garden tool? Throw it away? No way!
Head on over to a local repair café to get things mended for free (or with a voluntary donation).
